The lake

Pride of the town of Levico is the lake, one of the cleanest in Italy, an enchanting fjord-shaped water mirror that is particularly suitable for fishing, rowing boats, canoe trips, kayaks, and the quiet swims. Levico is an ideal destination for those who love water sports, both for those who want to experience the thrill of the many motorcycle circuits and cyclists. For lovers of relaxation there is no shortage of walks through biotopes, woods, historic houses and castles of Trentino.

Castles

The ruins of the castle of Selva Dating back to the twelfth century, it was rebuilt and embellished by Bernardo Clesio, prince bishop of Trento, in 1536. In September 1545 it hosted the papal legates at the Council of Trent including the future pope Marcello II, Reginaldo Polo archbishop of Canterbury, the Cardinal of Trento Cristoforo Madruzzo and the secretary general of the Council Angelo Massarello who left us a description of the castle. In 1779 it was bought by the Municipality of Levico and was abandoned. Distance: 1.5 km Reachable: for the last meters only on foot Special features: view of Levico and lower Valsugana The Castle of Pergine A few kilometers from Levico Terme we meet the small town of Pergine, which is dominated by the ancient medieval castle. This fortification dating back to the thirteenth century, occupies the hill of Tegazzo in a dominant position over the valley. In the past, thanks to its strategic orientation, it was an excellent point from which to check the transit on the Via Claudia Augusta. Today the castle is used as a restaurant – hotel and every year welcomes in its gardens a temporary exhibition that can be visited during the opening months of the castle. Strong pure healthy water: exhibition on thermal tourism in the Alps: Levico between the 19th and 20th centuries At Villa Paradiso, in the Parco delle Terme degli Asburgo The sources of mineral water have constituted and continue to represent an important natural resource for our town. In addition to bottling and the marketing of water, Levico Terme has experienced a significant and radical urban, socio-economic and socio-cultural transformation due to the constant increase in tourist flow attracted by the effectiveness of hydroponic treatments and the wholesomeness of the places. The exhibition intends to illustrate this passage, focusing mainly on the period between the seventies of the nineteenth century and the outbreak of the First World War. A historical-artistic exhibition in the unique context of the Forte delle Benne 31 historical panels and 3 artistic installations will accompany you, between emigration and technological innovation, between peace and war, to the discovery of the Levico in the immediate pre-war, until the entry into the conflict of the Kingdom of Italy.
